Frequently Asked Questions

 How long is the concert?

Typically, Jenn and Jeff will play 2 sets from 7pm to 9pm, though we can certainly make adjustments if necessary, provided we stay within the noise bylaws set by the city.

 Can I request specific songs?

Of course! We want to make this experience as unique and customized as possible so you and your neighbours have an amazing time. All requests must be made at least a week before the event and although we can't guarantee we can do EVERYTHING, we will certainly try our best.

What is required of me as the host?

1) Securing the “venue” - Jenn and Jeff will require a space to perform in an area where they are able to be seen by the neighbours (typically a driveway), where they are able to maintain a safe 6' distance from the audience and where there is access to two electrical outlets for extension cords. For obvious

reasons, quiet streets that do not get a lot of traffic are ideal.

 2) Getting the word out there - Let your neighbours know this is happening! We will email you a PDF of our flyer with all the info no less than a week before your event.

Can I make this event a fundraiser?

Great question! Yes, most of our hosts have chosen to use this event as an opportunity to collect nonperishable food items for a local food bank or church and have been amazed by how generous their neighbours have been! Feel free to choose a charity or organization that is close to your heart and we will include information in your event’s promotional material.

 How much do you charge?

Here’s the great news: there’s an excellent chance this won’t cost you anything! However, to secure the date and to make sure that our costs are covered, we ask for a $200.00 deposit when we contact you to confirm booking.

There will be two tip jars available during the event, one virtual and one in real life. The degree to which the neighbourhood contributes to the tip jar will determine how much (if any) of the performance fee is given back to you after the show. For full details of the fee/refund policy, please contact us directly.

Here’s the really great news: If there is at least $400.00 in the tip jar at the end of the show (and it does happen!) your entire fee gets refunded!

I live outside the GTA and/or Hamilton area, can I still host a concert?

Most likely, yes! We may have to add a travel surcharge to cover the extra time and expense, but we’ll discuss that all beforehand.

Can I hire you to play in my backyard?

You sure can! We would consider that a private event, however, which is subject to a different fee structure. We often get private event inquiries after playing a community concert, and we love to do both, so bring on the weddings, birthdays, anniversary parties, and the just-because parties too!

We hope this information is helpful and we’ll be happy to answer any other questions you may have, just drop us a line!

Jeff Giles

At the age of 15, Jeff began working professionally as an actor, developing his skills at Hamilton’s Theatre Aquarius, home to a performing arts training program that helped hone the talents of other Canadian musicians Wax Mannequin, Ben Caplan, and Finger Eleven’s Scott Anderson. It was around this time that Jeff began singing, playing the guitar, writing his own songs, jamming at parties, and playing in basement rock bands. After high school graduation, he recorded a small collection of songs in a bedroom, handed out copies of The Streetlight EP to his friends, and headed for University.

As a songwriter, Jeff is on a continual quest to balance the straightforward and the abstract. Like seasoned heroes Paul Simon and Tom Waits, and younger artists like Brandi Carlile, Neko Case, and Ryan Adams, Jeff takes inspiration from the point where catchy, singable musical phrases meet lyrics that are intelligent, playful, honest, and perhaps even abstract, probing the imagination while flooding the heart with a cocktail of love, loneliness, wonder, and hope.
